Mardi Gras and Fear of Crowds

By March 7, 2011

Follow me on:

I'm currently in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and, despite a bit of rain, the streets have been consistently packed. Along the parade route yesterday, it was literally shoulder to shoulder people. Lines were extremely long for everything from restrooms to food service. According to local estimates, this is either the most crowded Mardi Gras since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 or the most crowded Mardi Gras ever.

I enjoy the chaos, so I've been having a wonderful time. But I can only imagine what it would be like for someone who is afraid of crowds. Does that mean you should never come to Mardi Gras if you have crowd-related phobias? Not necessarily. Have a look at "Crowded Events and Phobias" for some survival tips. How do you manage during extremely crowded situations? Your opinions are welcome!
