Phobias tend to respond very well to treatment with medication, therapy or both. Untreated, however, phobias often become chronic. There is some chance of spontaneous recovery, particularly in children, but this is never guaranteed. Each person has a different experience, so it is difficult to predict how any one phobia will progress. However, some general trends can be identified for each type of phobia.
