Question: What Are Some Ways That I Can Prepare to See the Doctor About my Phobia?

Before your first phobia-related doctor appointment, writing down certain information will help you prepare.

Answer: Your doctor will ask numerous questions to determine what is causing your phobia symptoms. Prepare by writing down detailed answers to questions such as these:
  • Where and When: Where are you when you experience symptoms? When do they occur?

  • How Long: How long have you had your symptoms?

  • Severity: Rate the severity of your symptoms.

  • Unusual Occurrences: Did anything out of the ordinary happen around the time your symptoms started?

  • Medications: Prepare a written list of all your medications, both prescription and over-the-counter.
