Describe Your Fear
I am afraid I will lose my friends and family. I have a loving cat, been my friend for 16 years - doing well, but what happens when he passes? I think of this often. My new puppy dog, now a year and a half, is a giant breed and will only live a short while. My father and I are very close - and yet he's 60 and I'm in my mid twenties. He will die. Will I ever see him again?
I am VERY easily swayed, as I naturally believe everything everyone says (ha!) So I get frightened by atheists who say that religion is built to maintain human power, and ease our fears of death. Very possible.
How I'm Coping
Research. Lots and lots of research. Science can explain many things, but I have found several cased of things it cannot explain! The study of the past life children - where birthmarks correspond with the injuries of past life. Small children speaking in non-native languages, remembering people from before. NDE's and their incredible similarities - all Near Death Experiences happen with no brain activity, blood movement or pulse and all people regardless of age or culture experience similar things; the tunnel, looking down at one's self. People blind their entire lives have been able to see themselves and the room they died in! Science cannot explain this; so how can people know for sure there is no afterlife?
Not so sure about psychics, ghosts and what-else; I find scientific research more comforting.
Advice
- at night, when afraid, don't continue to lay down in the dark. Get up and do something else, get some ice cream!
- think about how well people from different cultures get along; and yet, how can we all have similar spiritual experiences during NDE? How can we have consciousness when there is no brain activity?
- Talk to positive people about your fear. Trust those who say, "I'm not sure, but this is why I believe" instead of "This is the way it is"
